The trip to Colorado was long and cold, but well worth it and made for some great images!
Matt and I decided to leave Friday after work and drove through the night, arriving in Colorado for sunrise. Though we were exhausted and tired of being in the car, the beautiful scene ahead gave us the strength to press on the last few hours to Woodland Park.
Within 15 minutes of arriving at my parent's home, it started snowing. To a Texan, it felt like a blizzard, but it was just "steady snow". It was magical but also perfect timing because our little Prius can't drive in those conditions. Cap, on the other hand, LOVED the snow and immediately started scooping all he could into his mouth. Rolling, running and dragging his face across it, he quickly became covered in white like a fluffy little snowman.
My parents live in the mountains so naturally, everything is a hill...including their driveway. Once we were settled in the house and stretched our legs we decided it was time for lunch. My parents were still in Texas and had been traveling for 2 weeks prior, so there was not even a slice of bread in the house. However, to our dismay, we were trapped. Our little Prius just could not make it up the driveway. The wheels sliding but getting us nowhere. We were forced to stay home as the snow continued to pile up. We ended up ordering both lunch and dinner from the only two restaurants that delivered, thus concluding our first day in Colorado.
